Minimal Coverage

Since press coverage at tea party protests has been of a minimal variety, why not kick it old school and pull out the classic Lady Godiva minimal coverage (clothing division) tax protest? Well, dear friend, Signorina Logan, suggested it, and Signorina Stuart called and raised her, so rest assured, you can expect a PETA-riffic Tea Party protest in your community soon. Perhaps this is the culmination of the build up to tax day, when all good tax haters strip bare to fight the tyranny of taxation without temptation. Somewhere, (probably the warmth of his home) Stacy “The Other” McCain is grinning a gleeful grin at his fortuitous of cultivating the ultimate Rule V revelry.

Since I understand the fifth rule, but choose to entertain you all with copious wit and not scantily clad beauties, I found it fitting to take Signorina Logan’s Lady Godiva thought and create an appropriate anthem. So with all apologies to Sir Paul McCartney, the Beatles and music lovers everywhere, I present Lady Godiva, to the tune of (you guessed it) Lady Madonna

Lady Godiva, clothing at your feet
I’ll be at the tea party we should meet
Protesting money our Congress has spent
They’ve all forgotten who they represent

Friday night builds my anticipation
I’m thinking things over one by one
Tomorrow’s protest is for our nation
I hope you come

Lady Godiva, staring at your breast
I’ve already forgotten about our quest

I hope you come

Lady Godiva dancing in my head
Thinking of all the things I would have said

Those long speeches were never ending
Still the local papers didn’t come
But for me, I’m left here just pretending
You didn’t come

Lady Godiva, clothing at your feet
I’ll be at the tea party we should meet

  2. Lady Godiva’s descendants does exist to this day. Wesley Matthew Enloe is related to her.
